With summer in full swing, travelers want to find the perfect getaway. What about a unique spot just a few minutes from home?
Prairie Guest House located in Fishers offers visitors a special experience with their on-site garden, yoga studio and barn venue.
“The Prairie Guest House is a place for people to visit, stay with us, be here. It is a place to relax and be comfortable,” explains owner John Newton.
Newton and his wife Karen bought the Prairie Guest House in Fishers a few years ago. The 1852 farmhouse was built by Fabius Finch, one of the county’s first attorneys.
“People can check in and they almost go back in time as if they are in a farmstead in central Indiana,” says Newton.
Hoosiers and international travelers visit the bed and breakfast each year. Room rates start at $114 a night. There are 9 guest rooms, all furnished with private baths, and the decor reflects the traditional Indiana farmhouse style.
“Prairie Guest House is loved by Yelpers for the historical vibe that you will get. When you pull up in the driveway, you will see brick architecture 1800s and its located right across the street from Conner Prairie, so that vibe just flows on over,” says Brittany Smith from Yelp Indy.
Smith says Yelpers love the restored farmhouse and peaceful vibe. Guests can also enjoy private yoga classes each morning, for both beginners and more experienced yogis.
Yelpers also rave about the food, especially the breakfast. Prairie Guest House offers its visitors freshly brewed coffee, teas and juices along with seasoned egg dishes, homemade breads and fresh vegetables from the on-site garden. “Yelpers all about the food. Garden on site –growing veggies and used in the breakfast the next morning!” explains Smith.
Also on the property is a beautiful rustic barn where visitors can host weddings and other celebrations.
