INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 6, 2015) — A person died after a crash on the west side of Indianapolis Thursday morning, police say.

Dispatchers said a minivan crashed into a utility pole near West 10th Street and Arnolda Avenue around 7:40 a.m. The victim had been trapped in the vehicle after the crash. Emergency crews administered CPR to the victim, but the person succumbed to his injuries. Police identified the victim as Terry Lamont Reed, 42, of Indianapolis.

Crews from Indianapolis Power & Light were called to the scene because the crash sheared off part of the pole, which was being held up only by wires. It may take longer to clear the scene since crews will have to make repairs.

This is a developing story.
