Man killed after knock on door on near north side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 11, 2015) — A man was killed early Sunday morning on the near north side, when he answered his door, according to IMPD. The shooting was earlier reported to have been a drive-by.

Police say around 2:30 a.m., someone knocked on the door of a home in the 3500 block of N. Illinois Street. When the man answered the door, he was shot multiple times.

The man was rushed to Eskenazi where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released the victim’s name, but he was 63 years old. The man’s wife was home at the time of the shooting but was not hurt.

Police do not believe this was a random act of violence.
