INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A young boy with autism shared a sweet moment with several Colts players at the team’s preseason game against the Eagles on Saturday.
Ryder Dodson, 7, is a huge fan of everything football. Ryder attended his first ever Colts game with his family, and thanks to a friend of a friend, they got field access before the game during the Colts’ warmup.
Ryder’s mother Laura Dodson says during the warmup, he excitedly yelled the players’ numbers and names. Laura thinks his enthusiasm for the sport showed, and that’s what influenced the players to come say hi to him and give him a hug.
In a video taken by Ryder’s brother Carsun Dodson, you can hear Ryder tell TY Hilton, “I love you,” and Hilton responds, “I love you too.”
Laura says Dwayne Allen also took a few minutes to visit with Ryder and toss around the football with him. Ryder loved every second of it, and she hopes to take him to another football game sometime soon.
“Mainly we want the Colts to know how special it was to us that they took the time to come over and engage with him, and that just said a lot to our family and as a community how great it is that we have players like that representing the Colts,” Laura told CBS4.
