CARMEL, Ind. — For Colts fans not headed to London for the game against the Jaguars, they can still get a true taste of England here in central Indiana.

At Tina’s Traditional Old English Tearoom in Carmel, you’ll find clotted cream, fresh English scones, cucumber sandwiches and, of course, the tea.  The business idea comes from Tina Jesson.

“When I first moved here from England in 2008 it was really a case of what am I going to do?” said Jesson.

Jesson loved baking and started Tina’s Traditional Old English Tea Room.  It’s not just the authentic recipes that draw in Hoosiers.  Their themed events are the dog’s bollocks–or as Americans say “just great.”

“We focus on English literary events. So we do everything from Jane Austen to Harry Potter,” said Jesson.

They hold a Harry Potter birthday event in July and a Hogwarts Tea in October, but Jesson also dabbles in popular British television shows.

“We’ve got the ‘Dr. Who’ coming up at the end of this month.”

You’ll find weeping angel food cake on that menu.  Then in January, you can pretend to be Lady Mary at Downton Abbey.

“We do a Downton Abbey dinner,” said Jesson.  “It’s a chance to get the long pearls out and the hats.”

Tina’s Traditional Old English Tearoom is located in the Carmel Arts District, and the business owner is excited about the Colts headed to her homeland to play some American football.

“How exciting.  Wembley is just an amazing venue to be playing at,” said Jesson.  “So yeah, Go Colts.”
