Women’s basketball fans descend on Indy for Final Four

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 1,2016)- Basketball fans are set to take over Indianapolis April 1-5.

The Women’s Final Four tips-off Sunday, April 3 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

This marks the third time Indy has hosted the event.

New this year, the women’s Division II and Division III championship games will also be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The excitement off the court kicks off Friday night at the Convention Center with a free “Tipoff Party” starting at 7.

National recording artists Salt-N-Pepa will perform at 9 pm.

Former Ben Davis standout and one-time Indiana Fever player, Shyra Ely-Gas is hosting the “Hoops Meets Heels Fashion Show” at 8 pm as part of the event.

“It’s kind of full circle to play in the final four and come back and be an ambassador for the event and just share my vision of fashion and basketball,” Ely-Gas said.

Saturday morning is the “4Kay Run” benefiting the Kay Yow cancer fun.

Yow coached women’s basketball for 38 years and is one of only 700 Division I coaches to win 700 career games.

She lost her battle with breast cancer in 2009.

The Final Four Bounce is Saturday afternoon at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Participants will bounce, dribble, and jump from the arena over to Tourney Town at the Convention Center.

The first 2,000 people to sign-up for the free event will get a free basketball and t-shirt.
