Original Story:

GREENWOOD, Ind. – A Greenwood woman was shot during an argument with her husband Tuesday night, according to the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Doug Cox says it happened at their home in the 700 block of Leisure Lane in the Carefree North addition in White River Township.

Cox says the woman was rushed to IU Health Methodist Hospital for treatment of her injuries. They interviewed her husband, Stephen Keck, who has been charged with criminal recklessness.

According to Cox, the couple began arguing Tuesday night over finances. Keck grabbed a firearm and contemplated harming himself, police said. While holding the weapon, it discharged, striking his wife in the living room. Keck told police the weapon accidentally discharged.

Keck’s wife told investigators during an interview at the hospital that she also believed the shooting was accidental in nature.
