INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.-- An Indianapolis woman who nearly died after being attacked by her ex-boyfriend is now looking to the future with a new set of wheels.

Carleigh Hager received a brand new car Tuesday, thanks to Christi Huber Chevrolet in Crawfordsville.

The dealership is paying for a three-year lease on a 2016 Chevrolet Cruz. This will not only give Hager a new set of wheels, but will also help build her credit for years to come. They are also covering all maintenance and oil changes for those three years.

She cried tears of joy while sitting in the car, clearly grateful for the kind gesture.

Hager was brutally attacked last week by her ex-boyfriend Ryan Cameron. He is facing battery and strangulation charges. Police say he nearly killed her.

She shared her story with CBS4 after the incident so show others what domestic violence can do. She also wanted to make sure others who may be in an abusive relationship to tell someone.

The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help cover her medical expenses.

If you are experiencing a case of domestic violence or know someone who is, you can contact the IMPD Victim Assistance Office at (317) 327-3331, the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence at (800)332-7385 or call 211.
