(May 26, 2015) – Chris Norton was paralyzed in 2010 while playing football for Luther College.

Chris’s father told KCCI that during his first therapy session, he could only nod yes and no. Doctors told Chris that he would probably never walk again.

Chris proved his doctors wrong when he walked across the stage to accept his diploma. But that wasn’t the only surprise to happen this weekend.

He also proposed to his girlfriend!

“I said, ‘Oh, my gosh!’ So surprised. I did not see that coming at all. It was awesome. It was definitely the best weekend I’ve ever had,” said Emily Summers, Chris’s fiancée.

Chris told KCCI, “Proposing. That was so nerve wracking. I didn’t eat all day.”

Chris and his father wrote a book called “The Power Of Faith When Tragedy Strikes.” It comes out this summer.
