INDIANAPOLIS, Ind — Emergency crews responded the scene of an accident involving a train hitting a car.

The accident happened a little before 10:30 a.m. near the Lucas Oil Raceway.

The female driver suffered minor injuries. The driver’s son was not injured.

The driver told investigators as she was crossing the the railroad tracks, the vehicle in front of her suddenly stopped, possibly due to the line of traffic entering the raceway park.

Investigators say this left the woman’s car stopped on the tracks when the train was approaching.

The train was unable to stop in time to avoid striking her vehicle.

The vehicle was pushed some 400 feet westbound down the tracks between the entrance to Raceway Park and Hendricks County Road 1000 East.

Train traffic was stopped for about an hour while CSX inspected the railroad tracks.
