INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) and Duke Energy crews worked to restore power to hundreds of customers as extremely cold weather moves into central Indiana.
We’re told wind is a factor in the power outages, and they're having trouble with the transformers.
As a result of power outages in Carmel, the city has opened a warming center at Carmel High School. Anyone without power or in need of shelter is welcome to come. Please use Door 13, west side, Freshman Center entrance.
For those who are bringing their pets to the warming shelter, they must be in a crate. You'll need to bring accommodations for your animals.
The City of Carmel official warming station has opened at Carmel High School. If you are without power or need shelter, Carmel schools has opened the high school for you to stay warm. Please use entrance number 4, and school officials will direct you.
