INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (November 11, 2015) – The annual Veterans Day Parade kicks off on the north steps of the Indiana War Memorial around noon on Wednesday.

Music for the event starts at 10:30 a.m. with a veterans service at 11 a.m. ahead of the parade.

The Veterans Day Council has organized these events for more than 50 years. They expect more than 80 groups to take part in the parade and thousands to line the streets to say thank you.

“Many times, being in the military, it was a thankless job, and here’s an opportunity for the local community to say thank you, to appreciate what we have done,” said Matt Herndon with the Veterans Day Council. “For those who have served, it’s just an opportunity to kind of feel that they’ve really done something special with their service.”

The parade begins at Michigan and Pennsylvania Streets, then heads south on Pennsylvania to New York Street, then west to Meridian Street and north on Meridian Street. The parade finishes at North Street.
