GREENWOOD, Ind.- Investigators are searching for the thieves caught on camera stealing a family’s trailer worth $20,000.

The Jeanette’s trailer was parked on the street outside of their Greenwood home a couple weeks ago.  Surveillance cameras hung in the trees capture the team of thieves stealing the trailer in the middle of the night. It actually took the thieves three attempts to finally take off with the trailer.

“Honestly, we’re just really pissed off about it. We’d like to find the people,” said Courtney Jeanette, burglary victim.

Footage shows one thief helping a driver back a truck up to the trailer.  Within minutes the trailer is loaded onto the truck and the thief hops on and the truck and the trailer are gone.

“They came here with a plan. They knew what they were doing,” said Jeanette.

The Jeannette family is very involved in racing, spending nearly every weekend at competitions. Inside the trailer, the family had a golf cart, racing equipment, and a dirt bike belonging to the family’s 17-year-old son.

“It’s hard to talk about it. It sucks. We work hard every single day. They’re the scum of the earth. I’m sure they don’t work every day. I’m sure this is what they do for a living,” said Jeanette.

Detectives believe the thieves left a bag of trash in the streets. There was a receipt inside the bag that was tracked down to a gas station in Effingham, Illinois.  Investigators have released pictures from that gas station of people who are being called ‘persons of interest.’

“You might not get caught today or tomorrow but you will eventually get caught,” said Jeanette.

With time, this Greenwood mom is certain the thieves will get what they deserve and until then she says her son got what he deserved: first place in his first race after the thieves tried to pull a fast one.

“He was pretty determined. This took a lot out of him. He was pretty devastated. He was able to show them you can’t keep me down,” said Jeanette.

Detectives found the empty trailer and returned it to the family. If you know anything that could help investigators track down the thieves or the stolen items you’re asked to call the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
