UPDATE: According to Glen Rose Animal Control, Snickers has been adopted! She was adopted into a family with a 10-year-old girl and a big yard to play in.
(February 9, 2016) – A one-year-old Shar Pei mix credited for saving her owners’ lives now needs someone to save her after she was left at a shelter.
According to KTVT, last August, a Texas family was sleeping in their RV when it went up in flames. Their dog, named Snickers, woke them up and helped them get out safely.
“She actually jumped through the flames over and over again,” Animal Control Officer Loretta Adams told KTVT. Snickers even burned her paws in the process.
But the family recently moved, and they weren’t able to take Snickers with them. So they dropped her off at the Glen Rose Animal Shelter.
“It’s heart breaking because she saved their lives and they couldn’t keep her,” said Adams.
Snickers has now been at the shelter for a month, and no one has even looked at her.
“She’s a brave girl that saved her family and I don’t understand how nobody wouldn’t want a dog like that,” says Adams. “She could potentially save your life.”
The shelter says if no one adopts Snickers soon, they may have to euthanize her.
So now the race is on for someone to adopt her and save her life – just like she saved her former owners’ lives.
