UPDATE: Swimmer dies after being rescued from water at White Rock Park

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — A man from Georgia died after rescue crews pulled him from the water at White Rock Park on Monday.

Authorities were called to the park around 6 p.m. for a swimmer who was reported to be missing in the water for at least five minutes. 

Around 7:15 p.m., an Indiana State Police diver found the swimmer near the docks in 17 feet of water.

He was taken to Major Health Partners Hospital in Shelbyville where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified as 19-year-old Lucius Chitty.
