INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a person was wounded in a shooting Tuesday night.
The IMPD said officers responded to a motel in the 3700 block of North Shadeland Avenue just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday for a disturbance involving a large number of people. Officers were then notified en route that a person had been shot.
When they arrived, they found a male victim with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
IMPD says the suspected shooter was seen with a firearm before barricading himself in a room. The Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team then responded to the scene.
Negotiators were able to get the suspect to surrender peacefully.
The shooting is under investigation.
