INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 21, 2015) — Indianapolis Metro Police Department confirms a man has died after an officer-involved shooting on the far East side.

Police say around 4 p.m. on Saturday, dispatch received a call from the 1800 block of Heather Circle, where they heard threats being made toward a person.

Two officers were called to the home and found a person wielding a weapon of some kind, possibly a knife.

Officers felt they and the two other people in the home were in danger and told the man to drop the weapon.

When he refused, they were forced to use their weapons. Officials say they believe both officers fired on the suspect.

When emergency crews arrived, the man was pronounced dead.

Police say it is unclear at this time if the suspect was a resident of the home or what his relationship was to the other people in the home.
