15-year-old Gary girl at center of Amber Alert located by police

Update: (Feb 14, 2017)– Police say a Gary teen has been located after an Amber Alert was issued for her Monday.

The 15-year-old girl is now in police custody. No other details were immediately released.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office said the girl’s 34-year-old mother was the victim of a homicide. The mother’s body was found in an apartment.

The Amber Alert is no longer active.

GARY, Ind. – A Statewide Amber Alert has been declared for a Gary teen that police believe has been abducted.

Police say the 15-year-old girl was last seen in the area of 2027 Maine Street in Gary on Monday. She is believed to be in danger.

Officers say she was wearing a grey t-shirt and black jeans when she was last seen. She is 5 feet 2 inches tall, 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.
