Shooting on Indy’s northeast side leaves man dead

INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was killed in a shooting Thursday evening.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened in the 4500 block of Jamestown Court just after 6:20 p.m. When police arrived, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

The department said a vehicle pulled up as officers were attempting to render aid and fired at least one shot at the officers. Officers pursued the vehicle, but at least 2 people fled the vehicle. Officers were unable to locate them.

The victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced dead. The department said no officers fired shots and no one was hit by the shot or shots fired from the vehicle.
