Shooting on Indy’s near southeast side leaves man dead


INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man died in a shooting on Indy’s near southeast side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said the shooting happened in the 2400 block of Asbury Street just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. When police arrived, they found a man, later identified as 40-year-old Raul Casas suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Casas was pronounced dead.

Police say the shooter stayed at the scene. Police took them into custody as a person of interest.

Police do now know exactly what happened or if there was a relationship between the shooter and the victim. They were looking around for cameras that might have captured the shooting.

The cause of death for Casas was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a homicide.
