INDIANAPOLIS — An investigation is underway in downtown Indianapolis after a shooting not far from Monument Circle injured one man and possibly two others.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred shortly after midnight in the 100 block of E. Market Street, not far from Monument Circle.
Police say a group of individuals were gathered in a parking lot socializing when an undetermined number of suspects approached and began firing several rounds.
Police say an adult man attempted to get into his vehicle and drive away but was struck by the gunfire and crashed through a brick wall.
Police say the man is in critical condition.
Approximately 20 minutes later, two other victims suffering from gunshot wounds arrived at a nearby hospital. Police say they believe these victims were also shot at the Market Street scene, but have not been able to confirm it at this time.
Those victims were said to be in stable and critical condition.
Investigators are continuing to speak with several witnesses and gather evidence and video surveillance from the scene.
