SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. — A semi fire along southbound I-65 near the Shelby / Bartholomew County line Monday morning had drivers searching for alternate routes for much of the morning rush hours.
According to Indiana State Police Versailles Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, the semi fire was reported just before 6 a.m. when the semi encountered some type of problem and caught fire.
No details have been released on what happened and the driver sustained no reported injuries out of the incident.
Part of the delay in re-opening the interstate came about as INDOT was called to assess the surface of the roadway which was scorched from the fire but officials determined that no immediate repairs were needed.
The incident remains under investigation.
