INDIANAPOLIS – All lanes of eastbound I-70 were closed early Tuesday after a semi went up in flames.

State Police officers responded to the blaze on I-70 near Shadeland Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m.

Firefighters believe the fire started because of a mechanical issue in the cab of the truck.

According to police, approximately 100 gallons of fuel spilled onto the interstate after the fuel tank ruptured.

No injuries were reported.

Cleanup is expected to continue through the early part of rush hour, but police say one lane of traffic is slowly getting by.
