High winds blamed for crash that closed all southbound lanes of I-65

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (April 2, 2016) –High winds have been blamed for causing a semi to overturn and block Interstate 65 in Bartholomew County Saturday.

Shortly after 5 p.m. emergency crews were called to the area of the 76 mile marker of I-65.

When Bartholomew County Deputies arrived, they found a semi-tractor and trailer lying on its side blocking all southbound lanes of the interstate.

The truck’s driver, 60-year-old Brian Madden told deputies he was traveling southbound on the interstate when his vehicle was forced over by high winds.

Madden suffered minor injuries and was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.

Traffic flow on the interstate was stopped for two hours during the investigation and clean-up.
