BOONE COUNTY, Ind. – State Road 32 in Boone County re-opened around 8 a.m. after closing for nearly seven hours when a semi hauling livestock overturned early Friday morning.

Officers with the Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash around 1:30 a.m.

Several witnesses told police the semi lost traction due to wet roads and tipped onto its side.

Officers say there were 63 cows on board, and one of the cows got loose.

According to officers, several cows died in the crash.

Local cattle company Demaree Farms is helping to load the cattle onto one of their trucks, and authorities called in the help of a cowboy to wrangle the loose cattle.

The driver of the semi was not injured in the crash.
