COLUMBUS, Ind. (July 12, 2015) — A Bartholomew County Reserve Deputy Sheriff is recovering after the floor of a ride collapsed at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fair.

A spokesperson with the Sheriff’s Department says someone suffered a seizure on the ride around 10PM Saturday. When first responders attended to the individual, the ride’s floor collapsed, injuring the deputy. It is believed the weight of the first responders caused the collapse.

The ride was closed as a precaution, and will be inspected Sunday. It may re-open Sunday evening.
