INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police quickly tracked down a man suspected of an armed robbery involving about $15,000 in cash Friday.

Around 11:30 a.m. Friday, a witness flagged down IMPD officers near Huntington Bank in the 5700 block of East Washington Street to report the robbery. The witness showed officers were the suspect had gone.

Police searched the area and found the suspect coming out of a nearby alley; he then got into a gray vehicle and drove off. Police tried to stop the car, which eventually crashed in the 75th block of North Audubon Street.

The suspect got out and tried to run off, dropping a gun and throwing a grocery bag over a fence. Officers tackled him and eventually took him into custody.

IMPD said the bag contained more than $15,000 in cash. Detectives believe the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Olugbalah Ridley, held up someone while they were making a business deposit.

Ridley faces preliminary charges of robbery, kidnapping and intimidation.
