INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 29, 2015) – IMPD is searching for a suspect after a person was shot on the city’s east side.

The shooting occurred in the 3700 block of Luewan Drive around 4 p.m.

This is near 38th Street and Mitthoeffer Road.

When police arrived they found a man dead in the backseat of a gray Chrysler with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Police haven’t identified the victim, but Lescinnia Majors says her nephew was in that back seat.

“I got a call on my phone that my nephew was dead,” said Majors.

Witnesses stated the shooting originally occurred in the 3900 block of Candle Berry Drive.

Several people were on scene and at times there were outbursts of emotion. Pastor Darrell Sydnor from The Rock Missionary Baptist Church was there and held a prayer circle in the middle of the crime scene.

“The more time that went by the more frustrated people became and I didn’t want the frustration to grow and animosity to break out,” said Syndor.

“He didn’t have to go this way. He didn’t have to go like this,” said Majors.

In the middle of the grieving crowd was Sharae Terry. She told CBS4 that she’s the sister of the man found dead Tuesday. She spoke with our cameras last week after her 2-year-old son Armonie was shot in an apparent drive-by.

“I just don’t understand how all these kids are just getting hurt, kids that don’t even know anything about guns. My son is sitting in the hospital, he shouldn’t even know nothing about a gun, a gunshot wound or none of that he’s you know in pain right now, he’s going through a lot,” said Terry in a previous interview.

Sources say that IMPD has been looking at a feud between two families that could be connected with several recent acts of violence.

“I think this is a setup and his friends know who did it . They were with him and they brought him here. They know who did it,” said Majors.

Police worked two separate crime scenes. No suspect information is available.
