Police respond to deadly shooting on Indy’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– An investigation into a deadly shooting is underway on the east side of Indianapolis.

It happened Thursday just before 2:30 p.m. in the 4800 block of East 19th Street, west of Emerson Avenue.

A man was found unresponsive when officers arrived. A little after 3 p.m., police said the victim had been pronounced dead after he was transported to a nearby hospital. On Friday, the victim was identified as 27-year-old Dewitt Dupree.
