UPDATE: Police have captured Jacob Van Pelt Wednesday after he escaped from the Henry County Jail.

He was being held Wednesday in the Henry County Jail, and in addition to his original charges, he now has a pending charge of escape.

HENRY COUNTY — The Indiana State Police is working with police from Henry County and New Castle after two inmates escaped.

The Indiana State Police said two inmates escaped the Henry County Jail around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday by using an unsecured door as staff members conducted a security check.

While one of them, Blake Turtrow, was captured, the other remains on the run. Police encourage people to stay safe inside around the Henry County Jail.

The inmate who remains at large is Jacob VanPelt. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911. He was in jail on pending charges of dealing methamphetamine, dealing a Schedule IV controlled substance, criminal recklessness, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of marijuana.
