UPDATE (May 12, 2017) — IMPD has announced that they have made an arrest in connection with the shooting death of 27-year-old Christen Brown.
Jagger Williams, 24, has been preliminary charged with murder for his alleged involvement in Brown’s death.
Detectives reportedly believe this incident stemmed from domestic violence.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Indianapolis Metropolitan police are investigating a Thursday morning shooting that killed a woman on the near east side.
According to IMPD, the shooting was reported around 3:30 a.m. at Brookside Parkway and Hamilton Avenue. Kristin Brown, 27, showed up with serious injuries at IU Health Methodist Hospital after a friend drove her there. She later died from her injuries.
Police found a coat at the crime scene and believe it belongs to Brown. Officers obtained a search warrant for a home in the 1400 block of Hamilton Avenue as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
“Information, obviously, from the hospital led us to this home. When we got here, we found evidence that there may have been some type of struggle or at least some type of trauma suffered,” said Sgt. Kendale Adams with IMPD. “So therefore in all of these situations time is on our side and we use the expertise of the tactical officers to make a dynamic entry and that’s what occurred here earlier this morning.”
A SWAT team entered the home and said no one was there. They found blood around the home, according to IMPD. Detectives are still gathering evidence and said they wanted to talk to a “person of interest” in connection with the shooting.
“I think what we’re trying to do now is get our real-time crime center going so they can develop some information about this potential suspect’s habits,” Adams said. “There’s nothing that indicates that this individual is a danger to the broader community. This appears to be people that know each other so obviously we’ll develop information as the morning goes on that hopefully either get him in custody or gets that information out to the community and the media and get some leads.”
