Police investigating shooting on city’s northwest side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 16, 2015) — Indianapolis Metropolitan police are currently investigating two separate crime scenes within a block of each other along 25th and MLK Drive.

Shortly before 11 p.m., police were called to the 2500 block of MLK Drive on a report of a woman struck by a car. Upon arrival there, they were notified of a man shot just a block south at 25th and MLK Drive. The 62-year-old shooting victim was found on the northwest corner of the intersection.

A shooting suspect was arrested shortly after police made the discovery. William Woods, 65, was found in the 400 block of E. 10th Street.

The woman was who struck by a car was treated and released at the scene. The driver involved is cooperating with police and no arrests are expected in connection with the accident.

IMPD tells FOX59 the shooting victim and suspect are not connected to the crash.
