Police arrest 16-year-old in Johnson County double shooting

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating after a shooting left a juvenile dead and another critically wounded Friday.

The department said the shooting happened around 4:45 near the intersection of Smith Valley Road and Berry Road. When police arrived, they found two victims in a vehicle.

The front-seat passenger in the vehicle, 15-year-old Kashius Davis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The rear passenger of the vehicle, a 19-year old man, was transported to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition. The department said his condition is no longer life-threatening. The driver, another boy, was not injured in the incident.

The department said the driver and back seat passenger were able to identify the person who shot them, another teenage boy. Deputies were able to find him at his house, taking him into custody.

The teenage suspect was arrested and preliminarily charged with murder and aggravated battery.
