INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police are investigating after a 20-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment on the city’s northwest side Tuesday.

Police say a family member found the woman unresponsive in the 6300 block of Mission Terrace around 2:30 p.m. She then called 911.

When officers arrived, the victim had apparent signs of trauma and police believe she was shot, but they can’t say for sure.

EMS personnel arrived a short time later and pronounced the victim deceased.

The victim has been identified by police as 20-year-old Netria Lyons of Indianapolis.

There were no signs of forced entry into the house and police are not sure when the victim died, but they don’t believe it was random. Detectives have some leads that they are following up on.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine a cause of death after an autopsy is performed and the victim’s name will be released when family is notified.
