Update (Feb. 20, 2017)– Officials have identified the body as Jose Santos Garcia-Lopez, 35. The cause of death was ruled to be blunt force trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds in the neck and body. Manner of death was ruled a homicide.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating after an adult body was found in a dumpster at a far east side apartment complex Saturday.

Officers were alerted that there was blood outside of the dumpster at the Spanish Oak Apartments in the 3600 block of Wingate Court around 12:38 p.m. Police responded and located the victim.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began canvassing the area for witnesses.

Earlier this week, police were at that same apartment complex investigating the shooting of a Hispanic man. Officers arrested three suspects in connection with that shooting and others in the area.
