Police investigate deadly crash in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. – A Franklin man died during a Monday morning crash in Shelby County.

The crash occurred around 5:30 a.m. just north of 850 North on State Road 9 between Fountaintown and Shelbyville.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, a 2004 Chevy Trail Blazer driven by 39-year-old Brandon Vollett of Greenfield was heading southbound when Vollett lost control. The SUV slammed head-on into a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was headed northbound.

The driver of the pickup, 28-year-old Jeremiah Peters of Franklin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

North State Road 9 between US 52 and 600 North was closed for several hours, but has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation.
