Police capture fleeing driver after short foot pursuit on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 30, 2015)–Indianapolis Metropolitan Police captured a driver who fled a serious crash scene on the city’s northeast side Sunday evening.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. Police and emergency personnel were called to the intersection of East 63rd Street and North Keystone Avenue on a report of a serious crash involving two cars.

Additional rescue crews were called when it was learned one of the drivers had crashed into a house and was still trapped inside the wreckage.

Additional police were also called to the scene after witnesses reported seeing the driver of the other vehicle get out of his car and run into the neighborhood to the west and north of the scene.

After a short pursuit by IMPD officers, the man was taken into custody in the 2200 block of Durham Drive.

The driver of the other vehicle was taken to St. Vincent Hospital for treatment of a possible broken leg.
