Fishers man dies after motorcycle crash in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Ind. – Authorities in Lawrence responded to a fatal motorcycle accident Sunday evening.

The scene was at the intersection of Pendleton Pike and N. Mitthoefer Rd.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene at around 6:45 p.m.

Investigators believe the driver of the motorcycle, identified as Kurt Lowery, 32, of Fishers, was riding his 1990 Suzuki north on Mitthoeffer Road. Witnesses indicated the traffic signal was red for north and south traffic, and green for east and west traffic.

Lowery went through the intersection and collided with a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling west on Pendleton Pike. Lowery was wearing a helmet, but did not survive the crash.

No injuries were reported in the Equinox.

Police say the driver agreed to take a drug test and does not face any charges. There was no initial indication of impairment by either vehicle operator, results of operator blood draws are pending. The investigation remains ongoing by Lawrence PD crash investigators.

Traffic on Pendleton Pike was restricted for a few hours following the accident.
