Small plane crashes in southeastern Delaware County

DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. (January 4, 2015) — Indiana State Police and Delaware County Sheriff’s Office is working on a small plane crash in southeastern Delaware County.

The plane crashed just before 4 p.m. Sunday, east of the Prairie Creek Reservoir.

Officials say a small single-engine plane crash-landed in a field and skidded on its bottom across a picked corn field before coming to rest in an area of recently cut trees.

The pilot, identified as Richard Kingston, 59 of Illionis was taken to IU Health’s Ball Memorial hospital in Muncie with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police and FAA are still investigating the cause of the crash.
