CARMEL, Ind. – A man is dead after getting hit by a pickup truck in Carmel.

The crash happened just after 7 a.m. Thursday on City Center Drive between Guilford Road and Clark Street.

Carmel police say the victim, 81-year-old Thomas McAllister, was struck by an eastbound 2007 Chevrolet truck. CBS4 is not identifying that driver because no arrest was made and no criminal charges have been filed.

McAllister was crossing City Center Drive near Timber Creek Drive, which isn’t a designated crosswalk, when he was hit. Police say glare from the sun may have been a factor.

At this time, they don’t suspect drugs or alcohol played any role in this death.

City Center Drive was closed for a while but has since reopened.
