Pendleton Pike crash kills two overnight

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 26, 2016) — Two people are dead following an overnight accident near Lawrence.

The crash happened just before 4 a.m. in the 7100 block of Pendleton Pike.

Police say two people died and three others were injured when two cars collided. Two people were in a sedan and three people were in a truck. According to police, the driver of the sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and blew past a stop sign, slamming into the truck.

Emergency crews say when they arrived on scene, one of the passengers in the pick-up truck was dead. The driver of the pick-up was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead there, and the other passenger is in serious condition. The two people in the sedan were transported to the hospital in stable condition, according to police.

Police believe alcohol was a factor for both drivers involved in the crash.

The truck hit a Long John Silvers restaurant. The restaurant has minor damage.
