(May 12, 2015) – The oldest working nurse in the United States turned 90-years-old this week.

Florence “SeeSee” Rigney is an operating room nurse at Tacoma General Hospital in Tacoma, Washington.

According to WTVD, Rigney started out as a nursing student in 1946. Almost seven decades later, she’s still working at the same hospital.

Rigney’s co-workers gave her flowers, a crown and a birthday sash to celebrate the occasion.

Rigney received many cards, including one from the Washington state governor and one from the CEO of Multicare hospitals, Bill Robertson. WTVD reports that Robertson wrote, “Just imagine all the changes Rigney has seen in her life since she graduated from high school — in 1943. Listening to some of the details of the experiences she has had over the course of a wonderful life is inspiring.”
