KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Police in Tennessee say they were heartbroken after pulling a woman over in a drunk driving case only to find a young boy in the back seat of the car.

Officers from the Knoxville Police Department did their best to comfort the child. They pulled his mother over Wednesday night outside a Walgreens near a mall and arrested her for driving under the influence.

According to the department’s Facebook page, officers did their best to comfort the young boy, giving him apple juice, Goldfish crackers, gummy sharks and a McDonald’s Happy Meal.

The department identified the officers as Sgt. Eastridge, Officer Morgan and Officer Ayers.

“The child was uninjured and was turned over to his Grandmother. Heartbreaking!” the department wrote about the incident.
