INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Jan. 10, 2015) — A police officer returned fire on a suspect during a burglary in progress at a near north side home, early Saturday morning.
Police were called to the home in the Fall Creek neighborhood in the 2300 block of N. Kenwood Avenue, shortly after 3 a.m. Once inside the home, officers say two men ran out the back door. When police gave chase, at least one of the suspects fired at the officers. Police returned fire, striking one suspect in the leg. The other suspect continued running but was caught a short time later.
No officers were injured. The injured suspect was taken to Eseknazi Hospital in good condition.
The two victims in the house had been beaten up and were taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital in good condition . More details were not immediately available because there was a language barrier with the victims and a Spanish speaking officer had to be called in.
Police recovered two guns at the scene and are still investigating the incident.
