INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.– Police say one person died after a crash on I-465 northbound near West 71st Street Tuesday night.

Just before 6:30 p.m. ISP troopers were called to the scene of an accident with serious injury.

Two vehicles were involved, a Toyota Camry and a Ford Escape that was pulling a small box style U-Haul trailer.

Police say they believe the Ford Escape was disabled in the left emergency lane of I-465. They say the driver, 40-year-old Fambridge Conway and 13-year-old Malcom Conway were outside of the Escape when it was hit.

The Toyota Camry struck the U-Haul trailer and pushed it into the Ford Escape. The impact caused Fambridge to become trapped under the vehicle. Emergency personnel were able to extricate her and transport her to St. Vincent in serious condition. Malcom was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Camry submitted to a mandatory blood draw, but investigators did not observe any indications of impairment.

Police are also investigating whether or not the Ford Escape was completely in the emergency lane or partially in the road.

No witnesses have come forward that may have observed this crash. State Police investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this crash to contact the Indiana State Police Indianapolis Post at 317-899-8577 or Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS. (8477)
