SPEEDWAY, INDIANAPOLIS - The Grand Prix of Indianapolis drew thousands of racing fans to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday. The race marked the first test for the new roundabout connecting Crawfordsville Road, 16th Street and now Main Street.  It's designed to allow race fans easy access to local businesses.

“We are seeing more traffic and more people that did not know what Main Street was ever before and did not know we were here,” says Bill Norton, owner of Main Attraction Antique mall on Main Street.

Many drivers were concerned the new roundabout would cause travel delays and confusion, but there were no major issues during the Grand Prix.

“It has been great, the traffic flow has been great with the roundabout. There are a lot more new businesses on Main Street,” says racing fan Jim O’Neal.

The month of May is a big moneymaker for local businesses.  With the new roundabout, locals hope they will continue to be positively affected.
