EAKLY, Okla. (April 3, 2015) – It’s a family photo they’ll never forget.

It all started when an Oklahoma photographer received an unusual request, reports KFOR.

“They asked me if I would be willing to ‘play around’ with capturing their first family photo by editing Taos’ daddy in one of their pictures,” the photographer wrote on Facebook.

Sierra Sharry made the request when bringing her 6-month-old son to be photographed. The boy’s father, Lane Smith, died in a tragic accident. The couple had been at jet boat races in El Reno when Sierra felt overheated and decided to go home early.

She later got a call that Lane had hit his head. He died at an Oklahoma City hospital.

“July 13th 2014 was the absolute worst day of my life. I lost my best friend. The father of my unborn child. And since that day I have felt so empty inside. A part of me will forever be missing. I loved that man more than life itself,” Sierra wrote.

She asked the photographer to find a way to add Lane to their first family picture. Sierra said the photo from Kayli Rene Photography represents how she feels about her life.

“Taos and I living our lives the best we can with Lane ALWAYS watching over our shoulder. He is watching out for his little boy better than anyone and I know he’s got to be so proud. I love my little family sooooo much and I’m proud to be the mother to Lanes little boy,” Sierra wrote.

The photographer said she’s been flooded with similar requests ever since the picture began spreading around Facebook.
