(May 10, 2015) – A teenage boy was learning to drive with his father when he lost control of the vehicle. Marcos Trujillo, 13, was killed in the resulting crash.
California Highway Patrol said it happened around 8:45 p.m. Friday. Officers told KMAX-TV that the boy was behind the wheel going the speed limit of 55 mph, and his dad was in the passenger seat giving him a lesson. The boy lost control on the gravel road and overturned into a ten-foot ditch.
Neighbors told KMAX-TV that they’re having a hard time comprehending such a loss.
“It blows you away with the age,” said neighbor Brandon Halley. “I take my daughters around here and drive around the go-cart.”
KMAX-TV reports that the dad was treated and then released from the hospital.
