INDIANAPOLIS (July 30, 2015) – A person died after a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle on the northeast side.

The crash happened before 7 a.m. near 40th Street and Keystone Avenue. Indianapolis Metropolitan police said a motorcycle was going southbound on Keystone when a vehicle heading eastbound on 40th Street hit the motorcycle, knocking the rider off. The vehicle then went northbound on Keystone in an effort to leave the scene, police said. The motorcyclist was killed. Speed was not a factor in the crash, police said.

According to investigators, witnesses followed the vehicle “at a safe distance” and called 911 so police could locate it. The driver was apprehended near 34th Street and Central, police said.
