Man, woman and child escape burning apartment building

INDIANAPOLIS,Ind. (January 9, 2016)–A man, woman, and child escaped their burning apartment building on the city’s northeast side Saturday night.

Fire crews were called to a two-story apartment building at the corner of North Arlington Avenue and East Devington Road around 9:10 p.m.

The first firefighters on the scene found heavy fire coming from an apartment on the first floor of the building.  There was also a report of people still trapped inside.

Extra fire units and ambulances were called to the scene.

The victims were in the apartment above the apartment that was on fire.

A woman jumped from the second floor and landed on the ground.  A 3-year-old child was tossed from the second floor and caught by someone on the ground.

A male victim was covered in soot and had minor burns to his ears and chest.

All three were taken to the hospital for treatment.
